bridgestone guide

the following snippet is from the online bridgestone guide for the chocolate shop in the english market in cork:

'Niall and Rosemary Daly’s shop sells chocolates, and the very best chocolates at that.
If you search for Cocoa Bean from Kerry, or Willie Harcourt-Cooze’s extraordinary Peruvian Black San Martin 100% Single Origin, then it is here. “Chocolate is an affordable luxury”, says Niall, and their range, from Pralus to Skelligs, reveals just how luxurious chocolate can be. Only brilliant.'

we invited john and sally to a spring market in limerick when we were still a very new company and they were our food heroes. not only did they come along but they were enthusiastic and supportive. i remember john telling us that the best way to work was to be genuinely happy to help your competitors as well as your customers. we embraced this ethos and it has proven to be a way not only to do great business but to make good friends.

christmas in cork

cork is such a lovely place to capture the thrill of preparing for christmas. it's great mix of high street shops and quirky backstreets remind me of exciting childhood trips to york. finish the day at the english market and pick up some culinary christmas treats. i believe in getting started on the festive food as soon as december starts. winter continues for a long and stark time after the new year begins so take advantage of the natural exuberance of december and eat well!

shopping for chocolate by the sea

if you happen to be around south west ireland this summer, or indeed looking for a spectacular place to go, do make your way to st finian's bay and visit our little chocolate factory by the sea.
travel the picturesque ring of kerry and turn off the main road between caherciveen and kenmare onto the far less frequented and incredibly scenic skelligs ring you will happen accross the skelligs chocolate factory (there are signs if you are lucky enough to spot them or click here for directions). set directly across from the fascinating, everchanging, sheltered stunner of a sandy beach that is st finian's bay. a visit to skelligs chocolate factory chocolate counter is a great way to sample a few of our best sellers, catch a glimpse of the chocolates being made in the open plan workspace (during the week) and of course buy a bountiful supply of chocolates for you, your friends and your family. there are special offers and a range special products only available from our factory counter.

during the summer the counter is open:
june
monday to friday - 10am - 5pm

july and august
monday to friday - 10am - 5pm
saturday and sunday - 12pm- 5pm

the chocolate shop

i love the way that whenever i've popped into the chocolate shop in cork's english market, i end up staying for at least an hour, eating chocolate and drinking great coffee from a nearby stall. nial enthusiastically offers me pieces of chocolate from around the world and we argue the merits of different blends and strengths, sharing our delight or disbelief!

this is a specialist chocolate shop with real charm and character, nestled in cork's historic gourmet food market. nial and his wife, rose, source the best quality artisan chocolate from the best chocolate manufacturers throughout the world. we are privileged to be amongst them. this christmas, look out for skelligs formal collection and cocoa bean's bars available here in the very rare gift pack! also very difficult to find this year are our limited edition chocolate decorations that look fabulous suspended from the new bitter chocolate decor.
'left to my own devices I would rave on about the chilli bar which gets the balance so right!'
